Pakistan Women’s Football Team Will Play Tournament in KSA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan women’s football team captain Maria Khan has said that the players are gearing up for Saudi Arabia’s 1st international women’s football tournament next week.

She told Arab News that the development of women’s football is a positive initiative and hoped that they will learn a lot during the tournament in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  She said, “Inshallah, we’ll be able to make our country Pakistan proud”. She welcomed the development of women’s football both in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. She further added, “It’s for the world, for Asia, for FIFA”.

Pakistan Women’s Football Team

The tournament featuring Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius and Comoros will start at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Stadium in Alkhobar on January, 11. Pakistan will play their match against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on January, 19, following their first game against Comoros on January, 11.

Pakistan’s head coach, Adeel Rizki terms the upcoming tournament in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a great opportunity for players to gain international exposure. He told Arab news that it is a good start for Pakistan women’s football team as it will give them a chance to play football at the international level.

He further said that the team was well-prepared for the football tournament which would also help build sporting relations between Islamabad and Riyadh. He said that the event is a good learning experience for them. He hoped that they will enjoy the quality of football in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, in September, the Pakistani women’s team took part in the South Asian Women’s Football Championship and won against the Maldives.
