KARACHI: The Pakistan women’s Probables camp for the upcoming West Indies series has commenced at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi, with a 20-member contingent of players participating, local media reported.
Scheduled to run until April 8th in Karachi, the camp will then see players disperse to their respective hometowns for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, resuming in Karachi on April 13th to gear up for the series against West Indies, scheduled to kick off on April 18th. This bilateral series comprises three ODIs, part of ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, along with five T20Is.
Interim head coach Mauhtashim Rashid, speaking to PCB digital, highlighted the team’s focus on player fitness following their recent series against New Zealand. Rashid noted the addition of two new coaches to the support staff, aiming to bolster the team’s performance. He emphasized the positive impact of the domestic season on both senior and young players, particularly those making a comeback based on their performance in the T20 domestic event. Rashid also mentioned an upcoming one-day tournament designed to foster healthy competition among national and junior players, contributing to an expanded pool of talent crucial for fielding separate teams for ODIs and T20Is.
The camp for the West Indies series is strategically structured to refine players’ skills through various challenges, including simulated match scenarios and practice games, thereby enabling them to meet their performance targets effectively.
