ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided not to send its junior hockey team to India for the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled to begin on November 28, due to security concerns, officials said on Thursday.

The decision was made after a high-level consultative meeting, sources confirmed on Thursday.

Officials from the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) stated that the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has been officially informed about the government’s stance.

The decision follows growing concerns about the safety and security of Pakistani players during the tournament.

The Junior Hockey World Cup, one of the most prestigious events in the sport’s calendar, is set to take place in India.

However, given the security situation and the potential risks involved, the government chose to prioritize the well-being of the players, leading to the decision to withdraw the junior team from the competition.
