ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has emphasized the importance of increased engagement with Western capitals to convey to Israel that the consequences of the Gaza conflict could extend beyond the region.

In an interview with Arab News published on Wednesday, the prime minister stated, “We need to engage with various Western capitals, especially Washington and London, and make the Israeli side understand that their actions could lead to destabilization not only in the region but also potentially spill over beyond the region.”

When asked if the Pakistani government had received any requests from the United States to moderate its stance on Israel’s ongoing Gaza attacks, PM Kakar responded that he is not aware of any such request, and he believed no government would entertain such a request. “In my opinion, it’s strange, even absurd, to consider requesting someone to remain silent on such a matter, “Pakistan Prime Minister said.

PM Labels Israel Actions Palestinian Genocide in Gaza

He called for an immediate “cessation of violence” and unequivocally labeled Israel’s actions in Gaza as “genocide.”

The prime minister disclosed his upcoming travel plans to Riyadh for an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss Israel’s attacks on Palestine.

Kakar expressed his concern, saying, “You can’t justify killing children by claiming the right to self-defense. It’s a license for barbaric retaliation.”

In response to a question about whether Muslim nations were doing enough for Gaza, Prime Minister Kakar urged a deeper examination of the role played by the world’s estimated 1.8 billion Muslims, comprising 24 percent of the global population, in addressing the current situation.

He urged introspection, stating, “We need to ask more profound questions of this entire Muslim population regarding the global contributions we are making in terms of science and technology and the defense capabilities developed by the various 50 or 57 countries.”
