ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has warned that India is pushing the region toward war adding that Pakistan will respond with full force to any Indian aggression.
Addressing the Regional Dialogue organised by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad on Monday, he said he has also directed Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN to request for a meeting of the UN Security Council on the recent tensions between the two countries.
He said Pakistan will share facts with the Security Council members.
He said Pakistan has exposed India’s mala fide intentions behind the Pahalgam attack.
The Deputy Prime Minister said baseless allegations as well as unilateral, politically motivated and highly provocative actions taken by India over the last couple of weeks pose a grave threat to regional and international peace and security.
He said we believe that what happened in Pahalgam was an attempt to divert attention from India’s internal challenges, state-sponsored terrorism, the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK and to gain narrow domestic political objectives.
The Deputy Prime Minister firmly asserted that Pakistan will unwaveringly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that the country remains fully vigilant and that its armed forces are prepared to respond to any threat.
He revealed that on the night between April 29 and 30, the Indian Air Force attempted an incursion, but Pakistan’s Air Force responded swiftly and effectively, forcing the Indian jets to retreat.
According to available intelligence, the Indian fighter aircraft made an abrupt landing in Srinagar.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan will not give up its share of water under the Indus Water Treaty. He added Pakistan is honouring the treaty in letter and spirit.

He said we will not allow to divert or stop the flow of water which is Pakistan’s due share under the treaty.
The Deputy Prime Minister went on to say that Pakistan being a responsible member of the global community remains committed to regional peace and security. He said we will support all efforts towards de-escalation.
Dar accused India of pushing the region toward war and said Pakistan responded in kind to India’s actions while remaining committed to regional peace.
Ishaq Dar stated that the unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute continues to be the main driver of instability in South Asia.
He stressed the urgent need for renewed and coordinated efforts under United Nations auspices to achieve a just, lasting, and peaceful resolution in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
