Pakistan Vows to Enhance Cooperation with ASEAN on Key Regional Issues

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in pursuit of a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.

In a message marking ASEAN Day, Dar urged a reflection on shared achievements and a renewed commitment to the principles guiding ASEAN’s mission.

“Pakistan remains unwavering in its support for ASEAN’s vision and looks forward to contributing to its continued success,” he stated.

He congratulated Secretary General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn for his exemplary leadership and dedicated efforts in advancing the ASEAN agenda.

“This day represents the enduring spirit of unity and cooperation among Southeast Asian nations. It is an honor to celebrate this milestone with our ASEAN friends.”

Dar highlighted ASEAN as a model of regional integration and collective progress, noting its notable accomplishments in economic development, social cohesion, and diplomatic engagement.

He praised ASEAN’s crucial role in fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and cultural diversity.

Pakistan values its relationship with ASEAN, built on mutual respect, non-interference, and constructive engagement. The country has actively participated in ASEAN’s dialogue mechanisms and has worked to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Dar also noted Pakistan’s involvement in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), where it engages in discussions on regional security and cooperation.
