ISLAMABAD: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized Pakistan’s deep appreciation for its long-standing relationship with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a meeting with UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.
He highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including Information Technology, renewable energy, agriculture, and tourism.
Gilani praised the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for the UAE’s economic transformation and expressed condolences on the passing of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohamed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan.
The ambassador noted that Pakistan-UAE relations have been on an upward trajectory, with the UAE encouraging its companies to invest in Pakistan, particularly in communications, climate change, and renewable energy. He also mentioned plans to increase the number of flights between the two countries to facilitate travel and strengthen economic ties.
Additionally, Gilani briefed the ambassador on the All Parties Conference (APC) held on October 7, 2024, which aimed to express unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
The discussion also addressed the challenges faced by Pakistanis in obtaining visas. Both sides agreed to improve the visa process to promote economic development and enhance people-to-people connections between the two nations.
