Pakistan, United States Discuss Close Coordination, Terrorism

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday spoke to the United States (US) Secretary of State Antony Blinken and discussed issues of mutual interest and the need for close coordination.

The State Department’s spokesperson in a statement reiterated the US continued support for Pakistani people as they recover from the recent flash floods that caused a huge scale of devastation.

Both sides shared their mutual hope for a successful and productive international Conference on Climate Change in January 2023. They discussed the need for coordination in areas of mutual interest.

The US secretary condolenced with the Pakistani Foreign Minister for lives lost in terrorist incidents and reiterated the US support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.

Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal is in Washington and held meetings with several US lawmakers and the Pakistani diaspora in America.

The US state department on Monday also noted that Pakistan remains a close partner of the US in shared challenges, including the war against terrorist organizations.
