ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has urged the Indian leaders to acknowledge the losses incurred by their armed forces during the recent conflict and accept the active role played by third parties in realising the ceasefire.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Shafaqat Ali Khan, during a weekly press briefing on Friday, said Pakistan categorically rejects the baseless assertions and provocative claims made by the Indian leaders during the parliament debate on the so-called Operation Sindoor.
“The world knows that India attacked Pakistan without any verifiable evidence or a credible investigation into the Pahalgam attack,” he noted.
He went on to say Pakistan’s resounding success in neutralising Indian fighter jets and military targets is an indisputable fact.
“Instead of misleading their compatriots, the Indian leaders would be well advised to acknowledge the losses incurred by their armed forces and accept the active role played by the third parties in realising the ceasefire,” the spokesperson said.
Kashmir dispute
Shafaqat Ali Khan categorically stated that there is no change in its policy on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, and different insinuations about the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister’s remarks on Jammu and Kashmir are baseless and uncalled for.
He said Pakistan has consistently maintained that the final status of Jammu and Kashmir is to be determined in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Visit of Iranian President
He said President of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, will pay a state visit to Pakistan on 2-3 August 2025 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Dr. Pezeshkian will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Foreign Minister of Iran, senior ministers, and other high-ranking officials.
He said that during his stay, President Pezeshkian will meet with the President of Pakistan and hold delegation-level talks with the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He noted this marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan as President of Iran. It may be recalled that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif last visited Iran on 26 May 2025.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, he said.
He said Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and security and is willing to play a constructive role in easing tensions and promoting diplomatic solutions. “We will continue to contribute positively wherever possible,” the spokesperson added.
Indian involvement in Balochistan
The Foreign Office spokesperson accused India of playing a role in destabilising the situation in Balochistan. He stated that groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and other terrorist outfits are acting as Indian proxies. He also alleged that the safe havens of ‘Fitna al Hindustan’ are located in Afghanistan.
No policy shift on illegal Afghan nationals
Commenting on the status of Afghan citizens residing illegally in Pakistan, the spokesperson clarified that there has been no change in policy. He stated that action will continue against Afghan nationals lacking legal documentation.
China a very close friend
To a question, he said China is a very close friend and an iron brother of Pakistan. “We enjoy a strategic partnership spread over decades,” he added.
The spokesperson said it’s a unique relationship between two friendly neighboring countries and has nothing to do with what kind of relations we pursue with other countries.
“Pakistan-China relations are based on the principles of international law and the UN Charter. Our relations remain robust and the two sides are working to sustain the positive momentum,” he said.
Pakistanis stranded in Cambodia
The spokesperson acknowledged receiving multiple reports about Pakistanis trapped in Cambodia amid rising military tensions between Cambodia and Thailand. He said the information has been shared with the Pakistani embassy, and welcomed the ceasefire brokered by Malaysia between the two countries.
