ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to declare an “immediate ceasefire” as Israel initiated a fresh ground offensive and intensified its brutalities against Palestinians in Gaza.
Expressing deep concern for the escalating situation, Jilani emphasized the need for international intervention to safeguard the well-being of innocent Palestinians.
In a statement conveyed via social media platform X, Jilani reiterated Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for a two-state solution and stressed the importance of a just, comprehensive, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian question based on international law and relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions. He highlighted the need for a viable, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine, established on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The international community’s attention has been drawn to the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where essential supplies such as food, water, and medicine are in critically short supply due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment. International relief organizations and UN agencies have expressed grave concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region amid Israeli brutalities.
Over 8,000 Palestinians Martyred in Israeli Attacks in Gaza
Israel’s actions in Gaza have resulted in a large number of casualties. Palestinian officials report that more than 8,000 innocent Palestinian civilians, including over 3,500 children, have been martyred in the brutal Israeli attacks since the conflict began. The UN further states that over 1.4 million Palestinian people in Gaza have been displaced since the hostilities started.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is scheduled to convene a crucial meeting on Monday to address the crisis. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has highlighted the unfolding “humanitarian catastrophe” in Gaza, urging swift international action to mitigate the suffering of the affected population.
Pakistan maintains a non-recognition policy toward Israel and continues to advocate for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
