ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday met with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, both sides discussed key issues including counterterrorism, counter-narcotics, border security, and human trafficking. They agreed to strengthen joint efforts and enhance cooperation in these critical areas.
High Commissioner Jane Marriott congratulated Minister Naqvi on being awarded the prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz, praising his leadership and wishing him continued success. She also expressed her condolences and solidarity with the people of Pakistan over the recent loss of lives due to devastating floods and heavy rains, offering heartfelt sympathy to the affected families.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to peace and stability, stating, “Pakistan has always been an advocate of peace and strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms.”
Highlighting the UK’s role as a key partner, Naqvi emphasised, “Britain remains an important partner in Pakistan’s journey of progress. We wish to expand bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom in all areas of mutual interest.”
The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of Pakistan and the United Kingdom to expand cooperation—not only in security and law enforcement—but also in strengthening political, economic, and humanitarian relations.
