ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation and remain engaged leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October.
This understanding was reached during a telephone conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, and the newly appointed British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs, David Lammy.
During the call, Deputy Prime Minister Dar expressed a commitment to collaborate with Foreign Secretary Lammy on addressing climate change, fostering youth opportunities, and boosting trade and investment. He emphasized Pakistan’s strong regard for its relations with the UK, particularly within the Commonwealth framework.

Ishaq Dar congratulated David Lammy on his appointment and expressed optimism that the new UK government would continue to strengthen Pakistan-UK ties. Both ministers acknowledged the positive role played by British Pakistanis in enhancing the friendly relations between the two countries.
In response, Foreign Secretary Lammy congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Dar on Pakistan’s election to the UN Security Council and assured continued UK support during Pakistan’s term.
