ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates on Thursday agreed to maintain close coordination and continue working together to advance shared goals of regional peace and prosperity.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, Radio Pakistan reported.
The meeting underscored the deep-rooted, brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, built on mutual trust, shared values, and a history of close cooperation.
The two leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest, and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing collaboration in key areas.
Prime Minister Sharif conveyed his sincere gratitude to the leadership of the UAE for its constructive role in helping to defuse tensions between Pakistan and India.
During a meeting, the two leaders exchanged Eid al-Adha greetings, offering prayers for continued prosperity for both nations and peace and stability across the Muslim world and beyond, according to the Emirates news agency (WAM).
The two sides explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a particular emphasis on the economic, investment, and development sectors, the WAM news agency reported.
They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening constructive relations and expanding their partnership to achieve shared interests and national development goals aimed at ensuring greater prosperity for both nations, the Emirates news agency reported.
PM Sharif appreciated the UAE’s positive role in promoting peace, dialogue and stability in the region.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral ties and ongoing engagements at all levels.
PM Sharif reiterated his invitation to the UAE President to visit Pakistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Information & Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi were also present in the meeting.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Abu Dhabi, where he was received at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser, along with a number of senior officials.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in Abu Dhabi on one-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates.
A wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest and concern will be discussed during the high-level interactions.
The UAE hosts over a million Pakistani expatriates, making it the second-largest Pakistani community abroad and a significant source of remittances to Pakistan.
In February, during the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s visit to Pakistan, both countries signed agreements in sectors such as mining, railways, banking, and infrastructure.
Earlier, in January of the previous year, Pakistan and the UAE had inked deals exceeding $3 billion, focusing on railways, economic zones, and infrastructure development.
