Pakistan, UAE Foreign Ministers Discuss Taliban Ban on Women Education in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and UAE on Wednesday discussed developments in Afghanistan and the Taliban’s decision to ban the education of girls and women in Afghanistan’s universities.

UAE’s minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has telephoned Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari today and discussed the Taliban’s decision to ban the education of women and girls in Afghanistan’s universities and the situation in Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s foreign office said that the two leaders emphasized that Islam had accorded women a privileged position, and safeguarded their rights. The two sides affirmed the need to guarantee women’s rights, as well as the significance of full and equal participation of girls and women in all aspects of life.
