ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Tuesday held a meeting with Turkiye’s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, where the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, a military statement said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the meeting at the Army headquarters, they  discussed new avenues for joint projects and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

The meeting also reviewed Pakistan–Turkiye relations, regional developments, and opportunities for deeper strategic collaboration.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing partnership in areas of shared objectives and regional stability.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir highlighted the long-standing and historic brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, appreciating Türkiye’s consistent support for Pakistan in various international forums.

In response, Turkish Minister Alparslan Bayraktar acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace, stability, and sustainable development, and expressed his country’s desire to further strengthen cooperation across the energy sector.

Pakistan and Türkiye have strengthened their ties following Ankara’s public support for Islamabad during its four-day conflict with India in May.

Since then, the military forces of the two Muslim-majority countries have committed to enhancing cooperation in defense and trade amid ongoing regional tensions.

In July, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister Güler visited Pakistan for high-level talks with political and military leaders.

The Foreign Office of Pakistan described the visit as a clear indication of “deepening strategic ties” with Ankara, noting that discussions focused on regional stability, trade expansion, and defence modernisation.
