ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday warned that India would face the consequences of its air strikes on Pakistan, vowing to take the conflict to its “logical conclusion” following Pakistan’s swift military response.
In a televised address to the nation, the premier praised the Pakistan Air Force for downing Indian fighter jets and declared that Pakistan had once again demonstrated its military superiority in conventional warfare. “India has mistaken that Pakistan would not give a befitting response.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that history has witnessed that “Pakistan is a nation of brave people whose sons of the soil have defended the motherland in the face of any problem.”
“I salute the Services Chiefs and in particular the pilots of the Pakistan Air Force for demonstrating unity, resolve, and purpose in annihilating enemy designs and downing their fighter jets in less than an hour of air-to-air combat,” the premier said.
He noted that the Pakistan Air Force’s jets dealt such a blow to the Indian forces that they left wounds “which even time will not be able to heal”.
“In India’s cowardly attack, 26 innocent civilians were slain and 46 were injured … We just offered funeral prayers for a slain child, seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas.”

He went on to say that the Pakistani military took only a few hours to bring the enemy to its knees.
“With the grace of God, our jets created such a storm in the sky that the enemy screamed. Five war jets, which were the pride of India, are now just ash and rubble.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had said India would have to suffer the consequences of its air strikes last night. “Maybe they were thinking we would step back, but they forgot this is a nation of the brave,” he warned.
He added that Pakistan and its military forces have once again “proved their superiority over the enemy in conventional warfare”.
He vowed that every drop of blood spilt by those slain in last night’s air strikes by India would be avenged.
“This is the cowardly enemy that attacks unarmed civilians and thinks itself stronger. But we proved last night that Pakistan knows how to deliver a befitting response in its defence. The nation pays tribute to the bravery and strength of the armed forces,” he added.
He said India levelled baseless allegations on Pakistan based on insinuations and lies. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said they (India) were the aggressors and were met with a befitting reply, and we resolve to ensure all aggression will be met with a resolute response.

Meanwhile Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), which met on Wednesday morning with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair has decided that in consonance with Article-51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to respond, in self-defence, at a time, place, and manner of its choosing to avenge the loss of innocent Pakistani lives and blatant violation of its sovereignty.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, on Wednesday briefed the Islamabad-based diplomatic corps on India’s air strikes in Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir during the night of 6 and 7 May 2025.
Addressing a specially convened session at Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar strongly condemned the Indian aggression, stating it was a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
Ishaq Dar said that India’s actions were in direct violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the norms governing interstate relations.
