ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) of Pakistan, Sajid Hussain Turi has said that Pakistan, with the cooperation of Saudi Arabia, will establish a university for technical and vocational education in Saudi Arab for overseas Pakistanis.
Sajid Hussain said that Saudi Arabia is the home of some 2.3 million overseas Pakistanis who were working and living in the Kingdom since long and added these overseas Pakistanis are assets of Pakistan. He said they are playing a significant role in the development and progress of Pakistan. Hence the government of Pakistan prioritize the development and welfare of overseas Pakistanis and considering to establish technical and vocational university in Saudi Arab, he added.
Significance of technical and vocational education
The minister of Oversees Pakistanis said that technical and vocational institutes would also be established nationwide to train the Pakistanis interested to get foreign jobs. Federal Minister said that Pakistan is already providing technical and professional training to its workers in order to meet the requirement and eligibilities of the international labour market and International Labour Organization to earn maximum foreign exchange.
Sajid Hussain further elaborated that with the help of oversees Pakistani Foundation OPF, a help desk will be established in order to determine the problems and difficulties of overseas Pakistanis and their loved ones.
Voting right for overseas Pakistanis
Federal Minister upon inquiring about voting rights of overseas Pakistanis said that overseas Pakistanis would not be deprived of their voting and electoral rights. In this regard, a new policy is in place. The minister reiterated that a number of projects have been launched for the prosperity and development of overseas Pakistanis and the country.
