ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and South Korea’s Ministry of Labour and Employment has agreed to send and receive workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS).
In this regard, an MoU was signed on Monday. The MoU between the two countries is renewed after every two years. So far, an attached department of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD), the Overseas Employment Corporation, has dispatched over 10,000 workers to South Korea under the EPS deal, said a press release here Monday.
The EPS renewal signing ceremony was held on Monday in the MOPHRD, Islamabad.
Pakistan, South Korea long-standing ties
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi, on behalf of the government of Pakistan, signed the MoU.
On behalf of the Republic of Korea, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Suh Sangpyo, presented the signed copy of the MoU from the South Korean Minister for Labour and Employment, Lee Jung Sik.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajid Hussain Turi said that Pakistan and South Korea relations have strengthened in various fields. He said Pakistan and Korea enjoy long-standing bilateral relations based on decades-old economic collaboration.
The Ambassador of Korea assured that Korea would consider the hiring of IT Professionals and Skilled Workforce from Pakistan under a separate Agreement/MoU during Korea’s Minister for Labour and Employment visit to Pakistan in the next year.
