ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that Pakistan would soon organize a summit of the Central Asian states’ leaders aimed at connectivity through rail and road links to boost investment and regional trade.
A nine-member parliamentary delegation of Kazakhstan led by Chairman of the Lower House (Mazhilis) of the Parliament, Yerlan Koshanov, held a meeting with the prime minister here in Islamabad. During the meeting, the need to strengthen cooperation in the transport, energy, logistics, and trade sectors was stressed.
The prime minister highlighted the special nature of Pak-Kazak relations which are deeply rooted in religion, culture, and history.

He said that Pakistan was keen to further expand cooperation with Central Asian countries, especially Kazakhstan.
Recalling his meetings with Kazak President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the occasion of CICA summit in Astana and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand, the PM said that both sides had very useful discussions for consolidating relations.
The premier said that he was looking forward to the Kazakh President’s visit to Pakistan.
Yerlan Koshanov informed the prime minister about the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group meeting, held during the Kazakhstan parliamentary delegation’s ongoing visit.
He stressed the need for the exchange of parliamentary delegations that would excel people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. – APP
