New York: The Pakistan Mission to the United Nations is going to host an event today that is aimed at highlighting the plight of girls and women in situations of foreign occupation, local media reported.
The event, which is part of the current 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), is set to hold at UN in New York.
The event will include a panel discussion on the topic “Women Under Foreign Occupation” to be attended by diplomats, academia, women rights organizations, and rights activists.
Pakistan to Host Event Focusing on Women’s Plight Under Foreign Occupation
Officials said that speakers will share their insights and perspectives on the suffering of women braving the rigours of foreign occupation, conflicts and the usurpation of basic rights.
The event especially panel discussion will provide an opportunity to not only highlight the sufferings and hardships of women facing the situations of foreign occupation but also insist the need for a more robust and uniform execution of global humanitarian and human rights law such as an additional Protocol to the Geneva Convention, Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
