ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik, said on Friday that Russia would provide oil and diesel at affordable prices to Pakistan, adding that the process has been initiated.
Dr. Musadik Malik said that Russia has confirmed to provide petroleum products to Pakistan at affordable Prices adding that the Russian delegation will be visiting Pakistan next month to finalize the deal.
Musadik Malik said that the Ministry of Petroleum products of Pakistan would inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan about the development regarding the purchase of Russian oil.
Refining facilities in Pakistan
Dr Malik has said that Russia has eight types of oil, and the Petroleum products refineries in Pakistan can refine only two types of Russian oil. Currently, the oil refineries in Pakistan are majorly mandated to refine the UAE and Saudi Arab oil.
Dr Malik has said that petroleum prices will be reduced after importing oil from Russia, and benefits will be directly passed on to the public. Petroleum Minister also confirmed that Pakistan is also engaged in importing LNG gas from Azerbaijan at a discounted price.
Petroleum Minister also dismissed knowing the statement of Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in which he denied the purchase of oil from Russia.
