LAHORE: Pakistan’s Punjab province government has planned to establish a five-storey Darshan Resort near Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur to provide a view of the Sikh holy site for Sikh pilgrims.

The Kartarpur corridor, inaugurated in 2019, connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, where Guru Nanak Dev lived and died, to Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India’s Gurdaspur district.

Providing visa-free access for Indian Sikh pilgrims, the four kilometer-long corridor will see the construction of a five-storey Darshan Resort beginning next month, with an estimated cost of PKR 300 million, according to Punjab Secretary Tourism Raja Jahangir Anwar. The project aimed to facilitate Sikhs worldwide, with construction set to begin next month and completion expected by the end of 2024.

Five-Storey Darshan Resort to Offer Aerial View of Kartarpur

The Punjab government will build “Darshan Resort” 500 meters away from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur.

Entirely funded by the Punjab government, the Darshan Resort will have at least 10 suite rooms on the top floor, a mini theatre, a gym, and offer a perfect aerial view of Kartarpur Sahib.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has granted approval for the 50-room resort project, enhancing facilities for visitors to the historically significant Kartarpur.

Kartarpur holds profound significance in Sikhs, being the final residence of Guru Nanak Dev, the religion’s first Guru, during the last years of his life.
