ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces will showcase a wide array of defence equipment in a public exhibition at Shakarparian Parade Ground in Islamabad on Thursday (14 August) as part of Independence Day celebrations and to mark the victory against Indian in operation ‘Marka-e-Haq’.
According to media reports, citing official announcements, the exhibition will open to the public at 10:00am and feature weapons, aircraft, tanks, artillery, rocket launchers, military vehicles, armoured carriers, and radars that played a crucial role in operation Marka-e-Haq against India.
The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will perform a fly-past and para-jumping demonstration.
Cultural programmes, military bands, and thematic stalls will also be set up at the venue to evoke patriotic sentiments and engage visitors.
Officials said the objective of the event is not only to familiarise the public with Pakistan’s military capabilities and technological advancements but also to allow citizens to celebrate the historic day with national zeal.
Separately, a grand ceremony will be held on Wednesday at the Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad to mark both Independence Day and the Marka-e-Haq victory.
Sources, cited by local media, said that President Asif Ali Zardari will be the chief guest, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the chiefs of the three armed forces are also expected to attend.
A large number of national and international dignitaries will attend the event, which will feature special cultural performances, a parade by the three armed forces, and a fly-past.
Prime Minister Sharif will unveil the Marka-e-Haq Monument during the ceremony.
