BEIJING: Caretaker Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Syed Jamal Shah said on Tuesday that concrete measures are being taken to develop cultural infrastructure in Pakistan aimed at attracting foreign tourists, particularly from China.
Jamal Shah said that Pakistan has beautiful sites, landscapes, and terrains that can attract tourists from all over the world, particularly from China. It has just to develop the infrastructure ensuring safe and easy access for the tourists to these sites.
The minister, who is on a three-day official trip to China, said that there are many sites in Pakistan that are attractive to Chinese tourists, and the government would develop them.
About cultural facilities in Islamabad, he said that as far as the federal capital is concerned, the government is responsible for it. The cultural infrastructure built by CDA would be revamped and revived.
He said that there are many places that were built to promote culture, but they have never been used for at least three decades. Now, the government will develop these places and turn them into hubs of activities.
The minister said that these places will become not only a good source for the artists to earn a respectable livelihood but also will be contributing to the cultural life of the capital city.
He said that technology is being acquired from China to conserve, promote, and develop cultural heritage.
Pakistan’s Great Cultural Heritage
Jamal Shah said that Pakistan has a great cultural heritage that needs to be attended to very carefully. The government will have to develop a cultural infrastructure in the country, and China will always be there to help it.
