ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will continue to raise its voice against serious and systematic human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Foreign Office Spokesperson said on Friday.

Addressing the weekly presser, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan would also continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to Kashmiri brothers and sisters for the just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

She said that last week in Srinagar, India’s National Investigation Agency arrested journalist and human rights activist Irfan Meraj. Pakistan is concerned about the safety of Irfan Meraj and dozens of Kashmiri journalists and human rights activists, including Khurrum Perviaz, who are in prisons in IIOJK and India.

Voice for prisoners of conscience

Baloch further said that they are prisoners of conscience who are being targeted for highlighting the dire situation of fundamental freedom and human rights in IIOJK. India should end the suppression of journalists and human rights activists and its policy of curbing freedom of expression and assembly in the occupied valley.

Talking about the upcoming diplomatic engagements of Pakistan, she said that bilateral political consultations between Pakistan and Malaysia would be held next week in Kuala Lumpur.

The spokesperson said that the agenda of the talks includes discussion on political, military, and security cooperation, trade and investment relations, and cooperation in science and technology, tourism, health, and culture. The two sides would also discuss regional and global issues, including climate change, developments in the Asia-Pacific region, and Islamophobia.
