Pakistan to Attract Major Foreign Investment Within Six Months: PM’s Aide

ISLAMABAD:  Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi has said that Pakistan is likely to see significant foreign investment in the next three to six months.

He said his meetings with the Trump administration officials were “comprehensive and friendly”, with substantial discussions on strengthening the Pak-US relations.

According to GEO News, he expressed optimism about the country’s economic indicators in the light of support from major global lenders.

Importance of bilateral ties

He said that despite the changing US administration, the fundamental matters between Pakistan and the US remained unchanged, highlighting the continued importance of bilateral relations.

GEO news cited Pakistan PM’s aide as saying that the US president’s recent statements on counterterrorism were highly significant. He pointed out that Pakistan had clearly communicated to the US that terrorism would never be tolerated.

He also said that Pakistan recently captured and handed over a key terrorist wanted by the US, an act which was praised by the US administration. He said that Pakistan’s people and law enforcement agencies rendered a lot of sacrifices against terrorism.

Economic cooperation

Fatemi has also reaffirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz prioritises economic cooperation with neighbouring countries.

Earlier, Radio Pakistan reported that Fatemi has emphasised the need to increase US investment in Pakistan’s textile industry, infrastructure and the development of human resource.

In his speech at the renowned US think tank, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC, he reaffirming the longstanding historical relationship between Pakistan and the United States. He encouraged the US investors to visit Pakistan and take advantage of the available investment opportunities.
