ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Thailand have agreed to strengthen cooperation in a number of areas, including food security, fisheries, defence, and regional connectivity.
This came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa in New York, a Foreign Office statement said on Wednesday.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the positive momentum in bilateral ties, particularly in cultural and parliamentary exchanges, people-to-people contacts, trade, and tourism.
“They exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest,” said the statement.
They also discussed collaboration in the multilateral fora, especially at the UN. FM Maris congratulated Pakistan on its UNSC Presidency, and appreciated its contributions to the Council’s work.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar had called for an inclusive dialogue and cooperative diplomacy over confrontation amid times of growing turbulence across the world as “the cost of unresolved disputes, long-running conflicts, unilateral actions, and disregard for international law are being felt in every region.”
In his address delivered at the reception hosted by Pakistan’s Mission in New York on the occasion of Pakistan’s Presidency of the UN Security Council, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasised Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism, peaceful dispute resolution, and the foundational principles.
