ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday strongly rebuked the Taliban regime for remarks on its internal affairs, urging Afghan authorities to focus on their own domestic issues and respect the principle of non-interference in line with international diplomatic norms.

In a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad said Pakistan does not require “outside advice” on its internal matters. “The principle of non-interference in matters of other countries should be adhered to as per international diplomatic norms. Pakistan does not require outside advice on its internal matters,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson stated.

Pakistan called on the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan to uphold their commitments made during the Doha process. “We also expect the Taliban Regime to abide by its obligations and promises made to the international community during the Doha Process,” the spokesperson said.

The statement further urged the Taliban regime to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism against other countries and to prioritise forming an inclusive and representative government instead of engaging in “baseless propaganda.”

“The Taliban regime should not allow its land to be used for terrorism against other countries. Besides, the regime should focus on the formation of an inclusive and truly representative government, instead of engaging in baseless propaganda,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement read.
