Islamabad—- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday challenged the senate membership of former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, seeking his disqualification from the upper house of the parliament.
The reference was filed by the opposition leader in the senate, senator Shehzad Waseem, Azam Swati, Faisal Javed, Mohsan Laghari, and other senators. In the reference, his qualification has been questioned over Toushakhana reference. He has been accused of gifting luxurious vehicles to former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif being prime minister as he was prime minister of the country.
According to the reference, Gilani had misused his authority, therefore he should be de-seated from membership of the senate and should be sent to the election commission of Pakistan, the members pleaded.
Chairman senate Sadiq Sanjrani received the reference and assured to look into it in accordance with law.
