ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has ranked among the top ten happiest nations globally, significantly surpassing its neighbour India, according to a new survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan.

The survey found that Chinese citizens topped the global happiness index, with 86% stating they were happy, beating many European nations.

The latest Happiness Index, Pakistan placed 8th out of 44 countries surveyed, with 72% of Pakistanis describing themselves as happy despite ongoing national challenges.

Meanwhile, the findings have not been as cheerful for India. Despite boasting about being the world’s largest democracy and claiming remarkable economic growth, India has been placed at the bottom of the list.

Only 31% of the Indian respondents reported happiness and 34% expressed dissatisfaction with their lives.

Gallup Pakistan, a public opinion research organisation, highlighted that the results demonstrate the resilience of the Pakistani people despite ongoing political and economic challenges.

The Happiness Index is based on various indicators to evaluate overall life satisfaction, emotional well-being, and future outlook.

It is noteworthy that a previous report by Oxford University echoed similar findings.

In a survey spanning 147 countries, Pakistan was ranked 109th, while India placed even lower at 118th, further supporting the conclusions of Gallup’s recent study.
