Key points
- Updated franchise fees and commitments announced
- Expansion planned with new PSL franchises
- PCB arranges meetings with independent valuer
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is at a significant crossroads, and this time, the pivotal change is happening off the field. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially completed the long-awaited independent valuation of PSL franchises and key commercial assets, setting the stage for a potential structural overhaul of the league in the coming years.
The need for a new valuation arose as the PSL has emerged as one of the most lucrative cricket properties in the region. With the results now in, the next decade of the league’s evolution is set to take shape.
According to the PCB, it has sent renewal offer letters with updated franchise fees to all teams in compliance, with a deadline set for them to confirm their commitment for another ten years. However, the board has yet to disclose the specific numbers to the public.
To ensure that no franchise is left in the dark, the board has taken the unusual step of arranging both collective and individual meetings with the independent valuer, EY MENA. This will allow franchise owners to review the methodology behind the valuations, ask questions, and clarify any doubts about how the numbers were calculated.
Valuation reports
In addition to the current teams, the PCB has confirmed that valuation reports for two new PSL franchises have been received, paving the way for the next phase—the tender process for their sale. Once the bidding window opens, prospective buyers will have six shortlisted city identities to choose from.
With expansion on the horizon and franchise valuations officially set, the PCB has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and mutually beneficial partnership—especially as the PSL’s global presence and commercial appeal are at an all-time high.
For the teams, the focus now shifts to these new figures. Their next steps will not only determine their financial future but also shape the direction and strength of the PSL for the next decade.
