ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s volleyball squad on Saturday powered into the semi-finals of the Asian Volleyball Nations Cup 2025, rallying back in style to defeat Indonesia 3-1 in a thrilling quarterfinal clash at the Isa bin Rashid Hall in Isa Town, Bahrain.
After a rocky start that saw them lose the opening set 20-25, Pakistan regrouped and roared back, claiming the next three sets 25-21, 25-20, and 25-17. What followed was a masterclass in resilience, smart tactics, and defensive brilliance.
Though Indonesia outscored Pakistan in attack points (56 to 50), Pakistan’s wall-like defence made the difference, racking up 16 block points compared to Indonesia’s 7.
Pakistan also kept their game clean, committing just 10 attack faults versus Indonesia’s 21, and earning valuable points through 23 opponent errors.
Captain Murad Jahan led the charge with 20 points, while Usman Faryad Ali chipped in with 16. Support from Fahad Raza and Murad Khan ensured Pakistan stayed sharp across the court.
While Indonesia’s Rivan (22 points) and Doni (11 points) showed flashes of brilliance, it was Pakistan’s disciplined defence and clutch plays that carried them over the line.
With momentum on their side and a semi-final spot secured, Pakistan now eyes a place in the final — and possibly, the championship crown.
