ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) observed a bearish trend momentum on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index shedding 312.77 points.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s External Current Account Balance recorded a surplus of US$ 1.88 billion during July to April 2024-25 as compared to a deficit of $ 1.34 billion during the first 10 months of the previous fiscal year.
The Current Account for the month of April 2025 recorded a surplus of $ 12 million in comparison to a surplus of $ 1.20 billion in March 2025 and a surplus of $ 315 million in April 2024, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Friday.
The SBP on Wednesday announced that it had received the second tranche of Special Drawing Rights (SDR) 760 million, equivalent to $1.02 billion, from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
On Friday, a total of 571,963,511 shares were traded as compared to 698,965,992 shares the previous trading day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 29.015 billion against Rs 39.089 billion on the last working day.
As many as 465 companies transacted their shares in the stock market, 206 of them recorded gains and 209 met losses, whereas the share price of 50 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were At-Tahur Limited with 44,633,748 shares at Rs 49.83 per share, followed by Cnergyico PK with 32,290,577 shares at Rs 7.68 per share, whereas Lotte Chemical settled with 28,644,102 shares at Rs 20.98 per share.
PIA Holding Company LimitedB witnessed a maximum increase of Rs 1,132.52 per share, closing at Rs 12,457.67, whereas Khyber Textile Mills Limited was the runner-up with Rs 107.59 rise in its share price to close at Rs 1,183.53.
Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited witnessed a maximum decline of Rs 156.31 per share price, closing at Rs 22,725.50, whereas the runner-up Nestle Pakistan Limited with a fall of Rs 88.22 in its per share price to Rs 7,091.78.
It is worth mentioning that at the close of the previous trading day, the index increased by 1,425 points, closing at the level of 119,961 points.
On the other hand, in the interbank market, the US dollar further depreciated by 11 paisas, dropping from Rs281.61 to Rs281.50.
