UNITED NATIONS: Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, delivered a message to the international community on Pakistan’s Independence Day, emphasizing the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for self-determination and liberation from India.
Akram reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for Kashmir’s freedom on the global stage, asserting, “We will persistently raise the cause of Kashmir’s liberation at the United Nations and in all pertinent forums.”
The ambassador underscored that achieving freedom comes with sacrifice and it is never free highlighting how Pakistan’s forefathers encountered formidable opposition and established the nation through determination, wisdom, and democratic efforts. He paid homage to the countless lives lost in the pursuit of a homeland and liberty.
Kashmir’s Right to Self-Determination
Celebrating Pakistan’s independence, Akram reaffirmed solidarity with the Kashmiri people, asserting, “Today, as we commemorate our freedom, we stand unwaveringly beside our Kashmiri brethren in their quest for self-determination and autonomy.”
Addressing Pakistan’s resilience, he cited the nation’s ability to overcome security and economic challenges, exemplified by its response to the catastrophic floods in 2022.
“Our nation’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam, advocated unity, faith, and discipline as the bedrock of nation-building,” Akram urged, emphasizing the imperative to work tirelessly to actualize the Quaid’s vision and establish an inclusive, compassionate, and tolerant society for all.
