Pakistan, Sri Lanka Discuss Regional Developments, Bilateral Ties

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two Ministers expressed satisfaction over the robustness of Pakistan-Sri Lanka relations, Radio Pakistan reported.

They discussed bilateral relations across a range of areas, with particular focus on high-level exchanges, strengthening economic ties, religious tourism, and educational cooperation.

The talks also covered various regional and global issues, including recent developments in the region.

Ishaq Dar is leading the country’s delegation at the 32nd Ministerial Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

The meeting is being attended by the Foreign Ministers and representatives of the 27 ARF member countries, along with the Secretary-General of ASEAN.

“Established in 1994, the ARF serves as a key platform for multilateral dialogue and consultations on regional peace and security issues,” according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

It added that Pakistan has been an active member of the ARF since joining the Forum in 2004 and continues to contribute constructively to its activities and initiatives.
