ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released its annual team rankings update, revealing notable shifts across all three formats of the game. Pakistan have slipped in the standings, while Sri Lanka have made significant strides.

In the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, Australia remain firmly in first place as the reigning World Test Championship holders.

Their rating now stands at 126, although their lead has narrowed slightly from 15 to 13 points following the latest update.

This revision gives full weighting to matches played since May 2024, while those from the preceding two years are weighted at 50%.

England, captained by Ben Stokes, have climbed to second position after a strong run in Test cricket, having won three of their last four series.

Their current rating is 113, pushing South Africa (111) and India (105) down to third and fourth places, respectively.

The remainder of the top 10 remains unchanged, with New Zealand in fifth, followed by Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.

Only ten teams are currently eligible for Test rankings. Ireland need to play one more Test within the next year to qualify, while Afghanistan must complete three more fixtures for inclusion.

ODI rankings

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), India have cemented their place at the top after clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, boosting their rating from 122 to 124.

Finalists New Zealand have moved up to second, overtaking Australia, who now occupy third place.

Sri Lanka have made one of the most impressive gains in the ODI rankings, surging to fourth following recent series victories over both India and Australia.

Pakistan now sit in fifth, followed by South Africa in sixth. Afghanistan have climbed to seventh, while England have dropped to eighth. West Indies have risen to ninth, and Bangladesh have fallen to tenth.

The USA men’s team achieved the largest ratings increase in ODIs with a six-point boost, though they remain in 15th.

Oman overtook Canada to claim 16th, while other sides saw minimal movement.

T20 Internationals

In T20 Internationals, India—reigning T20 World Cup champions—retain the top spot, though their advantage over second-placed Australia has narrowed to nine points.

England are third, followed by New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa.

Sri Lanka continued their upward trajectory by rising to seventh place, which pushed Pakistan down to eighth.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan round out the top 10. Ireland have moved up to 11th, swapping places with Zimbabwe.

Among the lower-ranked T20 nations, Canada saw the most significant rating gain with a nine-point increase, breaking into the top 20.

Further down the table, the Bahamas and Estonia recorded the biggest positional jumps, climbing eight and seven places respectively, to 51st and 61st.
