ISLAMABAD: Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, currently representing Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, has hinted at potential national comebacks for Karachi Kings pacer Hasan Ali and Islamabad United’s in-form batter Sahibzada Farhan.
Speaking to the media, Agha praised their strong starts to the tournament and revealed he is keeping a close eye on players with an eye towards future national selection.
“My aim is to perform for Islamabad United while also observing players who could represent Pakistan down the line,” Agha stated.
“I’ll be monitoring both the form and fitness of those who might feature under my captaincy in the future.”
While he avoided naming specific young talents at this early stage, Agha made special mention of Hasan Ali’s excellent bowling and Farhan’s solid form.
“Only two or three matches have been played so far—it’s still early days. After around seven or eight matches, we’ll have a clearer picture of who is consistent. But Ali’s bowling has been outstanding, and Farhan’s form certainly stands out,” he noted.
Adjusting to modern demands
Agha also underlined the importance of adjusting to the modern demands of cricket, explaining, “Modern-day cricket is about maintaining the right tempo—it’s not just about going after every ball. We need to nurture a culture of playing according to the match situation and conditions.”
He further added that while batters may win individual games, it is bowlers who secure tournament victories, especially on high-scoring surfaces where saving runs becomes vital.
Reflecting on Islamabad United’s current campaign, Agha expressed confidence in their chances of clinching a fourth PSL title, but acknowledged the strong form of Lahore Qalandars.
“Lahore have built up solid momentum—if they keep playing like this, they’ll be tough opponents. I’m from Lahore myself, so when Islamabad United aren’t playing, I naturally support Lahore,” he shared with a smile.
He concluded by expressing optimism about Islamabad United’s strong start to PSL 10, hoping the side can maintain their momentum throughout the tournament.
