Pakistan Showcases Tourism Potential at World Travel Market in London

LONDON: Pakistan’s vibrant tourism industry took center stage at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, the world’s largest tourism exhibition, which commenced on Monday. The Pakistan Pavilion, inaugurated by Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister of State for Tourism and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Wasi Shah, and the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, has drawn significant attention from tourists, travel companies, and media influencers.

Under the leadership of Wasi Shah, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Provincial Department of Tourism, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan are participating in the event, showcasing Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes. The Pavilion provided a platform to highlight Pakistan’s potential as a top tourist destination, emphasizing its natural beauty and cultural richness.

Pakistan’s Tourism Potential

During the inauguration, Minister Wasi Shah expressed his enthusiasm about Pakistan’s tourism prospects, stating that the country possesses some of the most beautiful landscapes and cultural diversity globally.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting tourism activities as a means to bolster the national economy, potentially becoming a significant source of foreign exchange reserves. The minister welcomed suggestions from participants and assured them of the government’s unwavering support to facilitate the tourism industry.

The Pakistan Pavilion attracted a large number of visitors, including representatives from international travel companies and social media influencers. The pavilion not only showcased Pakistan’s scenic beauty but also garnered the attention of those who had previously visited the country and expressed interest in exploring more tourist destinations within Pakistan.

Minister Wasi Shah appreciated the support of the Pakistan High Commission and the Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan, acknowledging their role in enabling Pakistan’s participation in the prestigious World Travel Market in London.

The event, which runs from November 6 to November 8, 2023, serves as a significant platform for Pakistan to boost its tourism sector and attract more foreign tourists, contributing to the country’s economic growth.
