ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Shaheens, led by the dynamic Muhammad Irfan Khan, are all set to embark on a cricketing adventure Down Under. The squad departs for Darwin, Australia today (Friday), ready to lock horns with international opponents in the highly anticipated Top End T20 Series, kicking off on August 14.
The 11-team tournament, hosted in the heart of Australia’s Northern Territory, promises ten days of action-packed T20 clashes, culminating on August 24. The Shaheens will open their campaign with a fiery encounter against Bangladesh ‘A’, a match that could set the tone for the rest of their tour.
However, the squad will take the field with a slightly altered line-up following two key changes. Haider Ali, the hard-hitting batter, has been temporarily suspended on disciplinary grounds by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), paving the way for young talent Mohammad Faiq to make his mark. On the bowling front, pace sensation Mohammad Wasim Jr has been called up, replacing Salman Mirza, the left-arm speedster.
The revamped 15-member squad balances youth and experience, blending raw pace with spin wizardry, explosive batting with dependable keeping. Leading the charge will be Muhammad Irfan Khan, a name that has rapidly become synonymous with leadership and composure under pressure.
