ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi expressed Pakistan’s commitment to progressing as a democratic and peaceful nation during an international conference titled “Navigating Peace & Security in the Region and Beyond: Pakistan’s Role,” held at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI).

Solangi stated, “We want to be a nation that looks after its people and focuses on the welfare of its citizens.” He emphasized Pakistan’s clear vision to prioritize the well-being of its populace and economic revival. The government has recently initiated several measures to strengthen the economy and explore new opportunities for trade and investment.

Acknowledging past mistakes made by countries and political leadership, Solangi stressed the importance of moving forward. He expressed Pakistan’s interest in avoiding ongoing confrontations between major world powers, drawing on lessons from its past roles in such conflicts.

Solangi highlighted Pakistan’s desire to establish good relations with its neighbors, including India and Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan already enjoyed positive relations with China and Iran. The government also aimed to enhance economic and trade ties with Middle Eastern countries, emphasizing pragmatic relations with Kabul.

While expressing Pakistan’s sincere efforts to improve ties with Afghanistan, Solangi lamented the lack of positive outcomes. He mentioned that, unfortunately, a significant number of recent suicide attacks involved Afghan nationals.

This statement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering peace, economic growth, and positive international relations in the region and beyond.
