ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani expressed Pakistan’s desire to establish a long-term, multidimensional partnership with Russia, particularly in the areas of energy, defense, food security, and people-to-people contacts.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev, who visited him in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Chairman Gilani emphasized that Pakistan values its bilateral relations with Russia and is eager to enhance collaboration across various sectors, including trade and the economy. He highlighted the significance of parliamentary diplomacy in fostering connections between the two nations.
Gilani noted that Pakistan is endowed with rich agricultural land and expressed interest in leveraging Russian expertise in agriculture.
The Ambassador concurred with the Chairman’s views, stating that Russia possesses substantial experience and advanced technology that could benefit Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
On behalf of the Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council, the Ambassador presented a letter of congratulation to Chairman Gilani.
