ABU DHABI: Pakistan’s Ambassador to UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi on Wednesday underscored the need to augment flight connections between Al Ain and key Pakistani cities, particularly Peshawar.
He said this during a sideline discussion with Elena Sorlini, the Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, at Al Ain airport. The occasion also spotlighted the inauguration of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) service from Al Ain to Turbat, Baluchistan.
“Through the commencement of PIA flights from Al Ain to Turbat, Baluchistan, we discern substantial prospects for further collaboration. Beyond PIA’s existing thrice-weekly services from Al Ain to Pakistan (two to Islamabad and one to Turbat), there exists a pressing need to amplify flight frequencies, encompassing additional destinations, notably Peshawar and other major urban centers,” underscored Ambassador Tirmizi.
Highlighting Pakistan’s strategic positioning bridging South Asia and the Middle East, the ambassador underscored the vast potential, particularly in tourism, for Emiratis and other UAE residents. “We are dedicated to broadening flight connectivity from Al Ain to various Pakistani cities and express gratitude for the CEO’s supportive stance in this pursuit,” added the ambassador.
Expressing gratitude, CEO Elena Sorlini extended her full backing to the ambassador’s endeavors in bolstering flight operations between Al Ain and Pakistan. The meeting saw the participation of Sultan Al Dhaheri, Senior Vice President of Government Relations, Sharifa Al Kathiri, Head of Retail Services, and Mahwish Khan, Senior Manager of Aviation Development from Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Tariq Gulzar, Area Manager of PIA, along with other senior officials from both sides, graced the occasion.
