ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar Tuesday sought the support of the Bank of China and asked the Bank’s President to expand business ties with Pakistan to deepen the financial and economic relations.
Ishaq Dar said this in a virtual meeting with President Bank of China Liu Jin. During the meeting, the minister shared that working with the Bank of China and Pakistan has enjoyed good financial relations with the bank.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also highlighted the recent visit of the Pakistan’s Prime Minister to China and talked about the reciprocation of warm sentiments from the Chinese leadership.

SAPM on Revenue Tariq Mehmood Pasha, SAPM on Finance Tariq Bajwa, Special Secretary on Finance, and other senior officers from Finance Division attended the meeting.
While talking about the long-standing and durable relationships between the Government of Pakistan and the government of China, the Finance Minister thanked the President Bank of China for unwavering support to Pakistan in testing times.
Bank of China Plays Crucial Role in Extending Budgetary Support to Pakistan
It was shared that the Bank of China has played an important role in providing budgetary support to Pakistan. He said the bank’s support has played a significant role in easing pressure on the external account and meeting fiscal needs.

The Finance Minister extended an invitation to the President Bank of China to pay a visit Pakistan. The minister briefed the President Bank of China about the financial and fiscal conditions inherited by the present government. He shared that the current government has a strong resolution to bring back economic stability to the country.
The President Bank of China also discussed the historical and bilateral relations between China and Pakistan and appreciated the Government of Pakistan for taking the necessary measures to ease the lives of the citizens of the country. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions in supporting China during hard times.
He also commended the ongoing facilitation provided by the Pakistan government on various Chinese projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In conclusion, the Finance Minister thanked the President Bank of China for continuous support and assured him of the same support by the present government in deepening the economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
