ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed eight terrorists and injured five others in an intelligence-based operation in the northwestern district of Lakki Marwat, officials said on Friday.
The operation took place in the Wanda Sheikh Allah area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province following confirmed intelligence reports about the presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives — an outlawed group responsible for a string of deadly attacks across the region.
According to security officials, troops surrounded the suspected hideout and came under fire from the terrorists, prompting a swift and precise counter-response.
“Due to the high level of coordination and tactical accuracy, the terrorists had no chance to escape,” an official said.
Part of Wider Counterterrorism Drive
The operation is part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the National Action Plan (NAP), launched to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability in the country’s northwest — an area bordering Afghanistan that has seen a resurgence of cross-border militant activity.
A search operation continues in the area to ensure the complete elimination of remaining terrorists, officials said, adding that similar intelligence-led actions are being intensified across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
