RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 27 India-backed terrorists during a series of intelligence-based counterterrorism operations in the Miran Shah area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s North Waziristan district over the past 72 hours, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said that security forces engaged multiple Indian-backed terrorist locations in the area in continuation of a series of intelligence-based operations in the district.
“Following intense fierce exchanges of fire, in the last seventy-two hours, 27 khawarij belonging to India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij have been sent to hell,” ISPR said.

The military said the killed terrorists belonged to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group, which is sponsored by India. The state referred to the TTP terrorist group as “Fitna-al-Khwarij”.
The ISPR said a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists, who were involved in terrorist activities and targeted killings of civilians.
The military said the operation had avenged the killing of prominent local figure Malik Saifullah Dawar, who was recently shot dead in Miranshah, adding that those responsible had been brought to justice.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists, reaffirming that counterterrorism efforts under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue until militancy is eradicated from the country.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban regime to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, particularly those linked to the banned TTP terrorist network. However, the Taliban regime failed to take any action against the terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil.
Due to the surge in terrorist attacks, Pakistan has intensified counterterrorism operations to eliminate the menace.
