ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 14 “Indian-sponsored” terrorists in an intelligence-based counterterrorism operation in southwestern Balochistan province, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

The intelligence-based counterterrorism operation was carried out by the security forces in the Naal area of Basima district on June 8, 2026, after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Fitna-al-Hindustan is an official term designated by the Pakistani government to refer collectively to all terrorist groups operating in Balochistan province.

“The terrorists were reportedly planning to attack a nearby police station and banks in the area,” ISPR said.

The military’s media wing added that on receipt of the information, swift action was undertaken by security forces and an intelligence-based operation was launched to thwart the nefarious designs of the terrorists.

During the conduct of the operation, the movement of terrorists was effectively checked and engaged by the military punitively. After an intense fire exchange, fourteen Indian sponsored terrorists were killed, while multiple terrorists were injured.

In addition, four vehicles being used by the terrorists and improvised explosive devices were also destroyed on the spot, the statement added.

During the intense fire exchange, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbas embraced martyrdom.

The ISPR said that sanitisation operations were underway in the area to clear any remaining terrorists and ensure security.

The military reiterated that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

The campaign aims to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from Pakistan, with security forces and law enforcement agencies committed to continuing their efforts at full pace.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in cross-border terror incidents since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

Pakistan said the Afghan Taliban regime’s continued support for terrorist groups had enabled them to carry out attacks against the Pakistan military and civilian population along the Pak-Afghan border and in adjoining areas.
