NEW YORK: Pakistani Counsellor to the United Nations has said that Jammu and Kashmir will never be part of India.
Saima Saleem made the remarks while using her right to reply to India at the General Debate of High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly’s 78th Session.
She said the final disposition of Jammu and Kashmir will be determined by its people through a plebiscite under the aegis of the UN as per Security Council’s resolutions.
The diplomat added India accepted the Security Council resolutions and is obliged to implement them under Article 25 of the UN Charter.
The Counsellor went on to say that India has been trying to suppress the Kashmiri demand for their right to self-determination and freedom through cruel occupation.
She noted that over a hundred thousand Kashmiris have been killed by Indian illegal forces in Kashmir since 1989.
Kashmiris are victim of India’s brutality
Saima Saleem said that on 5 August 2019, India announced the annexation of Jammu and Kashmir. She noted that whole Kashmiri population is the victim of India’s brutality.
She further said that information blackout has been carried out by Indian occupied forces by closing media houses and charging independent journalists with terrorism.
The Counsellor regretted that despite the worst kind of oppression against Kashmiris, they have not given up the demand for freedom from Indian rule.

Saima Saleem said that labeling the Kashmiri freedom struggle as terrorism is a complete lie. She added that under international law, the Kashmiri struggle to foreign occupation is just and legal.
She said that India’s oppression in Kashmir is illegal saying that the country must be held accountable for its war crimes and gross human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Counsellor referred that two reports of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights have documented Indian crimes in Kashmir.
She went on to say that India is a serial sponsor of terrorism and has perpetrated terrorism against each one of its immediate neighbours.
