Pakistan Says Draconian Measures against Kashmiri Media Can’t Hide Indian Real Face

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday said that the journalists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) were working under intense pressure, facing intimidation, assault, and arrests which cannot hide the real face of the Indian Occupation from the world.   

Media in IIOJK

Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in her weekly press briefing, told the media that the media policy enforced in IIOJK was aimed at restricting the free flow of information and making media a mere propagator of India’s disinformation drive.

She said the Kashmiri media was stopped from covering the real situation in IIOJK and not printing statements of the APHC leadership. She said that some days ago, a Kashmiri journalist, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, was barred from traveling to the US to receive the prestigious Pulitzer Award.

Prominent journalists including Manan Gulzar Dar, Asif Sultan, Sajad Gul and Fahad Shah are in illegal detention in different prisons.

IIOJK and International Human Rights Day

The spokesperson said as the world was set to mark International Human Rights Day on December 10, we must keep in our thoughts the oppressed people of IIOJK.

The spokesperson also mentioned Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s ongoing visit to South East Asia. In Indonesia, he attended the 15th Bali Democracy Forum, held meeting with his counterpart and also inked an MoU on the establishment of a Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) at the Foreign Minister level.

OIC’s Secretary General Visit

The spokesperson told the media that Secretary General of the OIC will visit to Pakistan from December 10-12.  The Secretary General of the OIC will also visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul

Coming to the attack on the compound of the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul, she said, Islamabad expects a full probe of the attack and exemplary punishment for the attackers as well as the planners.

Asked about the security of Pakistan’s embassy compound in Kabul, she said since the incident on December 2, the Government of Pakistan had increased the security of its diplomats and its missions and is also in contact with Afghan authorities in this regard. – APP
