ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Friday agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation between the two countries.

A high-level delegation of Royal Saudi Naval Forces visited Naval Headquarters for the 12th Expert Level Staff Talks between the two navies, according to a statement issued by Pakistan Navy’s Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR).

It said that during the visit head of the Saudi delegation, Rear Admiral Saleh bin Ali Al Khatimi, called on the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf.

According to the statement, the 12th Expert Level Staff talks were co-chaired by Rear Admiral Saleh Bin Ali Al Khatimi and Pakistan Navy Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz.

The talks focused on operations, training, exercises, and technical cooperation, reaffirming both navies’ commitment to enhanced maritime capability and innovation.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share strong military and historical bonds, especially in the defence and maritime sectors.

Over the years, both nations have carried out joint exercises, training programmes, and high-level visits to boost coordination.

Earlier this month a senior Pakistani naval official had confirmed that Saudi warships, HMS Jazan and HMS Hail, will participate in the ninth edition of his country’s naval exercise, AMAN-25, which is scheduled to be held from February 7 to 11.
