ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to deepen their partnership in sports, with cricket at the forefront, to build a stronger bridge of friendship, youth development, and regional harmony.

The commitment came during a meeting between Pakistan Federal Minister for Interior, Narcotics Control and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sports, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Naqvi discussed an extensive roadmap to boost sports cooperation between the two countries, placing special emphasis on promoting cricket in Saudi Arabia, expanding youth participation in healthy activities, and strengthening long-term bilateral engagement in the sports arena.

The PCB chairman praised Prince Abdulaziz’s dynamic leadership and the Kingdom’s rapid sporting progress under Vision 2030, noting Saudi Arabia’s historic rise as a global sports hub. He congratulated the Saudi minister on the Kingdom’s successful bids to host major international events, including the AFC Asian Cup 2027, Asian Winter Games 2029, Asian Games 2034, and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Naqvi underscored that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia can unlock new opportunities for young athletes through collaborative projects such as cricket infrastructure development, joint training programmes, bilateral tours, and junior- and youth-level competitions.

Both sides agreed that relevant institutions in the two countries will accelerate coordination, with practical planning to be finalised soon. The joint initiatives aim to provide maximum sporting opportunities for the youth of both nations, further solidifying the longstanding Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relationship.
